June 2009 LandForm Studio is heading the development team for Windsong an eco-resort in the piedmont of North Carolina. The Resort is a celebration of the local pottery culture and will provide rentals in low impact cabins surrounding picturesque festival grounds. Jeff McGahee the project landscape architect is attempting to permit a 15 acre resevoir that will provide up to 70% of the projects peak power supply through hydo-electric, the residual power will come from onsite solar and wind power. It is etimated that green power will be sold back to utility companies in all but peak demand times.
The Autisim Society of NC will have dormitories on site, and will operate Windsong Kitchen Gardens, which is to provide a large portion of day to day food needs. During festivals and events WKG will operate vending areas on a for profit basis with the proceed benefitting the school. Construction is expected to start spring 2011.
Oct 2009 LandForm Studio is currently designing a new urbanism community in Middle Georgia. Approximately 200 acres will of the 900 acre site will be developed in a dense "old-style" neighborhood preserving the remain property for recreation including a 25 acre fishing lake, nature trails, disc golf course, and riverside park.
